Klarer Sieg gegen Lettland bringt Österreichs Eishockeyteam ins WM-Viertelfinale
Hoch die Hände, das Turnier ist noch nicht zu Ende! Ganz im Gegenteil: Österreich steht im Viertelfinale.
Stockholm – Nach den sechs vorangegangenen Gruppenspielen von einer Sensation zu sprechen, mag vielleicht zu hoch gegriffen sein. Aber so oft kommt es nicht vor: Zum ersten Mal seit 31 Jahren steht das österreichische Männer-Eishockey-Nationalteam im Viertelfinale einer Weltmeisterschaft. Die ÖEHV-Auswahl deklassierte Lettland am Dienstag in Stockholm im direkten Duell um den Aufstieg mit 6:1 (1:0,2:1,3:0) und steht nach 1994 erstmals wieder in den top acht. Der Gegner in der K.-o.-Runde am Donnerstag steht am Abend fest.
Not really sure why this matters, but it seems like Austria is doing pretty well in the World Championship. I mean, it’s been 31 years since they made it to the quarterfinals, so that’s kind of a big deal, right?
